Why So Pricey?

It feels like every time we blink, prices increase everywhere. It's certainly obnoxious, and it's tiresome to endure. As a practitioner who also increase my prices from time to time, Iā€™m here to tell you it's not fun on this end, either. Aside from the exhausting and inevitable fact of the constant increase in cost of living, I thought it would be nice to talk about just why else these bodywork sessions are pricey these days.

I can talk about business expenses, self-employment tax, health insurance and obvious reasons why even though bodyworkers love their careers, need to charge money for it. But, even though you're a smart person and you already know those elements of business, there is a high possibility that you would have no reason to think about the most important reason why bodyworkers need to charge what they do. A completely full time bodyworker sees about 20 clients a week, and that's pushing it. Some are 90 minute sessions, some are 60, but each one is time that's utterly devoted to you. There is no multitasking, checking email or drinking coffee. We put thought, love and all our physical energy into you, and as it happens, it's a large enough expenditure of energy that there is a physical limit to how many sessions we can do. Personally, I find that the older I get, the less my body can produce.

While therapists can have larger limits over time, their skills also become more seasoned and refined. If that doesn't matter to you, there will always be a rich range of bodyworkers at a wide range of rates! If you're more particular and willing to invest in high-quality bodywork, get yourself on my schedule! I'd love to have you on my table and am here to answer any questions you have.

Love,
